MUSIC THERAPY HELPS PREMATURE BABIES
Imagine when you were born in the 40s, 50s, 60s, or so. You may have lived full-term for 38 to 42 weeks in the womb of mom, safe and comfortable... in a dark place, protected from bright lights and loud noise. At that time, you were most likely born in a hospital, where you encountered bright lights, loud noise and a quick spank to trigger you to breathe. Imagine the shock. Now, imagine what premature babies who have not had the full-term time to develop... imagine what they are going through having to live in an intensive care unit.
Amazingly, researchers are discovering how music therapy helps newborns, particularly premature newborns.

MOM’S STRESS: ITS EFFECTS ON THE FETUS
Life experiences are hard on all of us, and often, this can result in stress that has the capacity to affect our mental and emotional health, as well as our behavior.
In fact, research suggests that an expectant mom’s stress can also affect the development of her unborn baby in the womb, as well as throughout the baby’s entire lifetime after birth.
Researchers are finding that short-term stress has little to NO long-term effect on the fetus, but long-term stress, such as a mom suffering from emotional problems, physical abuse, life situational and financial issues, and so on, over a long period of time while pregnant, can set up serious problems for the fetus.

THE PLACENTA: BABY'S LIFELINE TO MOM
Although the Placenta is KEY to the life and survival of the fetus, it is one of the least understood organs. It is the Lifeline between mom and baby, carrying oxygen and nutrients to the fetus and working as the surrogate for many developing organs, such as the gut, kidney, liver, and lungs, as they develop in the fetus.
The Placenta is so little understood because it is almost impossible to study in pregnant mothers; but thankfully, since the placentas in pregnant mice work similarly to human placentas, a research group at St John’s College, University of Cambridge, that was led by Research Associate Dr. Amanda N Sferruzzi-Perri, conducted research on pregnant mice to study how the placentas worked during challenging pregnancies.

NEWBORNS ARE FEELING THE OPIOID CRISIS
The opioid crisis is NOT being experienced just by people who are addicted to drugs, but there also is a crisis among the newborn babies that are born through their drug-addicted moms. According to an article in The New York Times, titled “A Tide of Opioid-Dependent Newborns Forces Doctors to Rethink Treatment,” the number of babies being born in the United States with a “dependency on drugs” has increased by fivefold between 2003 and 2012.

ANOTHER LIFE IN UTERO
Neuroscience is finally catching up with what we have already intuitively known about how we develop in the womb before we are born.

BABY'S FIRST CONNECTIONS
At the time of conception, when the sperm hits the egg, a fully conscious human being begins to develop in the womb. Each cell and each group of cells know what they are supposed to be and how they are supposed to work together. The intelligence and intellect of the cells, molecules and particles are in unison as the baby or babies develop.
When the mother and father understand from the beginning of this new life that a fully conscious being is developing through this union of their biology, genetics, and belief systems, they immediately can begin to communicate with their baby or babies. The life of their offspring is influenced by their actions, their behaviors, their experiences, their thoughts, their ideas, their words, their language, and even their belief systems. With this knowledge, they can communicate in very real and powerful ways from the beginning of the baby’s life or babies’ lives. Through the conscious connections and clear communications between the parents and baby or babies, there are simply no words that can describe this journey for a family. Yet, I have witnessed, over and over again, deep bonds as the baby and the parents grow together from the womb into this world.

Fetuses in Womb Can Recognize Face-Like Patterns
What is one of the first things that you do when you see a young baby? You generally make silly faces. It’s a fact that babies are highly attracted to people’s faces. But, groundbreaking research is now suggesting that ‘fetuses in the womb’ may also be attracted to faces.

Our Parents' Lifestyles Influenced Our Health, Even Before We Were Born
Over the past decade or so, so much has been learned about the fact that we lived Conscious Lives within our Mothers' Wombs, developing relationships with our parents and their lives before we were born. Science has also evolved in the understanding of how the genetics of our parents and their ancestry lines can affect us. So many of these genetic and behavioral factors have participated in creating who we are today.
But did you know that... Not only are We What WE Eat... but We also are What our PARENTS Ate, even before We were Conceived? Think about the ramifications of this new understanding.

Ultrasound...Is it Ultra-Safe?
For many parents, few modern day thrills surpass monitoring the newest member of the family via Ultrasound prior to their scheduled arrival. Social media is awash with screen shots of parents’ pride and joy making appearances, in utero, from all corners of the globe. The question arises, is this overexposure stemming from being overjoyed or is it just a trend with (limited) benefits?

Conscious Evolution of Love
Every mother since the dawn of time carried, along with her infant, the story of their birth. Until recent times, however, the sharing of that event was often overlooked, underplayed or talked around. Gratefully, by the late 20th century, many American children felt the freedom to ask of their parents, “Tell me about the day I was born.” The interest in and relevance of that event to the youngest among us was an indicator of a growing awareness; how our birth-into-being enhances the connection to one another and to our own self-realization.
