Umbilical Cord Stem Cells Save Lives

Did you know that stem cells from the placenta and umbilical cord blood of newborn babies can be used to treat a myriad of diseases?  It is being used to heal almost as many as 80 different diseases, such as, many cancers, blood diseases like leukemia, autoimmune diseases, and genetic diseases.

The latest research is proving that umbilical cord blood stem cells can be life-saving for patients with heart failure.  According to research that was conducted at the Universidad de los Andes in Chile, umbilical cord stem cell I-V infusions can help to strengthen the heart muscles of patients suffering from heart failure.

Specifically, in a small study of 30 patients (18 to 75 years), half were infused with the umbilical cord stem cells and the other half were given a placebo. In comparison to the placebo-patients, those who received the stem cell infusions showed significant improvement in the heart’s ability to pump blood.

The new study was written by Fernando Figueroa, M.D., a professor of medicine at the Universidad de los Andes in Chile, and it was published in Circulation Research, which is an American Heart Association journal.

This is joyous news!
